When my cousin Alana called me to ask if I would want to photograph her and Darren’s wedding, I was so honored!
It’s not every day that you get to shoot a family member’s wedding. It was so fun to be in on all the excitement and hustle and bustle of the wedding day. And this wedding day sure was a special one, with so many wonderful moments and memories.
Alana has always been full of spunk and full of compassion. Her wedding day was no different, she brought along a scarf for me because she did want to get to cold (How sweet was that?!) and she RAN to Darren for the first look. Like legit ran, through the mud. And it was the cutest thing ever. And so like Alana.
The first look was a party, starting with a best man in white, and ending with a running bride, which was beautiful.
These photos ended up being my very favorite of the couple portraits, they’re are so genuine! I love real interactions between my couples, and it is such an honor to capture such moments.
…and I had to add the one where he adjusts his veil.
The real First Look…
I often tear up during the weddings I shoot. There is something so powerful and significant of “two becoming one.” This ceremony was extra special. I remember talking about boys with Alana and our sisters for a long long time, somehow marriage hardly ever came up though. Maybe we thought it was too far off. Or maybe we thought that our lives wouldn’t change so quickly. But they did. I couldn’t believe Alana’s day was actually here! It was so special to see her get married off!
The Reception
How cute is that CAKE?!!
My favorite part of the reception was when Alana’s father sang “I loved her First” by Walt Aldridge. There was not a dry eye in the room.
Turns out that Uncle Dave won a bet by singing the song, which he then gave the money to Darren and Alana, which was so sweet.
Darren and Alana’s day ended with a flower toss and fireworks and it was perfect.
Thanks again, Darren an Alana for letting me be a part of your special day! Many blessings!
xoxo
